The Galva Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1999 by a diverse group of community-minded individuals whose primary focus was to assist with economic development in and around Galva, Iowa.

Board members include Randy Hustedt, Rita Frahm, LuAnn Bennett, Rick Wiese, and Anne Johnson. GEDC meets on a quarterly basis, and our group is always looking for enthusiastic people to help realize our mission of making a difference in Galva and contributing to its economic growth. GEDC is recognized by the IRS with 501(c)(3) charity status and is governed by an 8-member board. If you would like to volunteer your time, talents or treasures, please contact one of the individuals listed above!

Our History

15th anniversary of GEDC!

New electric sign was replaced at the library by funds raised by GEDC.

Completion of the Galva walking trail. 3,416 feet completed the three phase trail.

Around the school trail phase- Trail of Remembrance. Plaques are available for purchase through City Hall for your loved ones.

Sizzlin’ J restaurant Grand Opening.

Three new Town entrance signs completed- $26,740 raised for this project.

New street banners purchased and hung on street posts.

September 3, 2015- Ribbon cutting for Goettsch Dispatch and Goettsch Grain. Andy Goettsch owner.

Survey sent out to all Galva patrons.

Survey results tallied and established new goals and needs of the community.

Open house for Lumber Inn- owner Brenda Segebart.

Our Process

GEDC can assist you by showing you building sites for industrial, distribution, manufacturing, renewable energy projects and an assortment of other educational projects. No project is too big or too small in Galva! GEDC would be pleased to provide customized information that applies to your project.
GEDC can help businesses save time and energy in the permitting process, zoning and coordiating of state and local agency activities. Whether it is in person, by telephone, USPS mail, or via email, GEDC is happy to provide assistance across the miles that separate us.
GEDC can help eligible businesses receive real property tax abatements, sales tax incentives, job training, low interest financing, utility discounts and more. Just ask! Financing Packages: Through relationships with our economic development partners, GEDC can help businesses access the appropriate financing from federal, state and local sources.
GEDC works to maintain long-term partnerships with businesses to assist with expansion to Galva, Ida County, Iowa. Please let us know how GEDC can assist your business dreams!

Summer 2017

Our Park Project

GEDC is pleased to announce that we have raised enough money to install the equipment pictured. In addition, we have raised enough money to install an extra musical piece called the Imbarimba! The Galva Park makeover is planned to begin in mid-June and special thanks to everyone who donated for this amazing project!
